Audio from one of the more interesting presentations regarding Interior Defense Analytics in the NBA. It was presented by Kirk Goldsberry and his partner Eric Weiss. The big point of the presentation was about being able to track data that could lead to better defensive metrics. Warriors fans would be interested in this audio because of what David Lee's numbers look like according to this analysis. Enjoy!

Here is the audio from the Basketbal Panel at the 2013 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. The panel featured Stan Van Gundy, R.C. Buford, Kevin Pritchard, Mike Zarren, Zach Lowe, and was moderated by Pablo Torre. SVG was awesome once again on the panel and provided the counter point in terms of the use of analytics and how the need for communication of that data was way more important than the data itself. Enjoy!

An interview with Stan Van Gundy at the 2013 MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. The other voice you hear is the homie Jordan Ramirez, who writes for Warriorsworld.net, and we ask Van Gundy about the Warriors, what they need to do to stay afloat in the playoff race, the emergence of Steph Curry & him playing with Klay Thompson, and finally we get his thoughts on David Lee with regard to the Dwight Effect panel that pretty much ethered Lee's defense. Enjoy the Audio Goodness.

I asked Dominic if he felt if there was any more he could have done during the Warriors loss to the Nets on Friday night. He said maybe grab some more offensive rebounds but that he wasn't sure until he watched the taped. I don't want you to listen to my question as much as I want you to listen to Dominic's tone. The guy was legitimately dejected about the loss & ou could tell was frustarted. Maybe I could have aked a better question because I didn't want it to come off as a "You cost us the game" type of question which maybe it did. McGuire was a key reason the Warriors kept Deron Williams in check & got the stop on Williams at the end of regulation to give the Warriors a shot at winning. |

It was a pretty interesting post game presser and Jackson had some choice words for his team & how they played in the second half. He talked bout being embarassed and how the team has only let him down like this one other time during the season. Listen and enjoy.

Here is the audio from the quick 2 question interview I had with Paraag Marathe after the Franchises in Transition Panel at the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. I asked about the impact that Gideon Yu has had on the 49ers stadium plan as well as if they would be able to possibly break ground in 2014. |
Fri, 2 March 2012
Another person I got to ask a question after the MIT Sloan Sports Analytics Conference Basketball Panel was Jackie MacMullan, ESPN Columnist and NBA Analyst. I asked her about what she thought in regards to the Warriors Assitant Coach Mike Malone taking over the duties of drawing up plays during time outs for the Warriors. I thought it was unusual, but she reminded me that this also happened when Larry Bird was the coach of the Indiana Pacers and Rick Carlisle and Dock Harter took over play calling duties. Jackie had some great insight, so enjoy |

So after the Basketball Panel, I took the opportunity amid the masses to ask Jeff Van Gundy how he thought Mark Jackson was doing as the coach for the Warriors. He was very positive about the job he was doing and felt that injuries were one of the reasons for the teams record. Enjoy. #ThankYouJVGBasedGod |

Here is the Audio from the Coaching Analytics Panel from the Sloan Conference. The panel had on it Lawrence Jackson (Defensive End for the Detroit Lions), Eric Mangini (Former NFL Head Coach), Jeff Van Gundy (Former NBA Head Coach and ESPN Analyst), Bill Simmons (Editor and Chief of Grantland), and moderated by Daryl Morey (GM of the Houston Rockets). Also as a lat edition, Brent Barry (Former NBA player and ESPN Analyst) was a great late edition to the panel. The panel was great and Van Gundy once again stole the show with a couple of great lines. Let your Ears enjoy the Sloaney Goodness. |

The Basketball panel was led by Jeff Van Gundy (Former NBA Head Coach and ESPN Anlayst), John Hollinger (ESPN Columnist), Mike Zarren (Asst. GM of the Boston Celtics), and Jackie MacMullen (ESPN Columnist & Analyst). Sadly Mark Cuban couldn't make it to the panel but Jeff Van Gundy picked up the slack. Note, Jeff Van Gundy is awesome, I just needed to say that. Enjoy the basketball goodness. |

Here is the full audio for the Baseball analytics panel at the Sloan Conference. The panel was made up of Bill James (Senior Baseball Operations Advisor for the Boston Red Sox), Scott Boras (President of Boras Corporation), Robert Shapiro (President of the Cleveland Indians), Jeff Luhnow (General Manager for Houston Astros), Rocco Baldelli (Special Asst. of Scouting and Player Development for the Tampa Bay Rays), and the moderator was Rob Neyer (National Baseball Editor SB Nation). A lot of player development talk in international markets, how an aget like Boras goes about using analytics, and also a lot of draft talk. It was a great panel, so enjoy! |
Fri, 2 March 2012
Here is the full audio that I got from the first panel that I attended at the Sloan Sports Analytics Conference. During the Panel, Jeanie Buss (Lakers Executive Vice President), David Gill (CEO of Manchester United, F.C.), Neil Glat (SVP, Corporate Development for the NFL), Scott O'Neil (President of Madison Sqaure Garden Sports), Steve Pagliuca (Managing Director of Bain Capital & Co)wner of the Boston Celtics) and moderated by Jessica Gelman (VP of Customer Mareting & Strategy for Kraft Sports Group) all talked about to take their teams brands & extend them off the field. One of the funnier things that happened was Scott O'Neil presented Daryl Morey with a signed Jeremy Lin jersey as a thanks for letting him get away. It's official, the Warriors are now off the hook for letting Jeremy Lin go, at least at the Sloan Conference. Hit the link and enjoy.

After a pretty tough loss, I asked Mark Jackson if the last play run where Monta took a 3 to win the game was a set play where David Lee had the option to take shot or kick it back. Jackson said he was comfortable with Lee making a decision because Monta ended up with a good look. I don't necessarily know if the Warriors needed a 3 there with so much time but I was surprised that Lee didn't continue driving towards the basket. Some other interesting tidbits are in the post game so go ahead and take a lisen.

We are back people with an awesomely special episode of The Bay Area Sports Report Podcast. In episode 34, we have the talented scribe Michael, who writes the WhiteElephantParade blog on the Oakland Athletics. It is a great blog on the Athletics and during the podcast we get into all kinds of A's talk. Sorry Giants fans, we will talk all kinds of Giants next week I promise. So to start off the podcast we get into the current state of the team and whether or not they are meeting expectations. We then get into the Bob Geren conundrum of whether or not he is making the right moves with the line up, especially since he seems to sit hitters right when they start to get hot. Finally, we get into some defensive talk and whether or not the A's will revert back to the mean and play up to their defensive capabilities and start to sure it up or if it is something that we have to worry about. Oh and yes we talk some Daric Barton! After the break we get into why the WhiteElephantParade Blog was started and how it looks to set itself apart from your run of the mill baseball blog. We get into a lot of Oakland talk and how Oakland can be a viable place for the A's to build a new stadium as long as this Ownership group is willing to. Also we get into how the current ownership group hasn't necessarily endeared itself to the surrounding community and how there are a lot of misconceptions of why Oakland is not viable when in actuality it is a great spot and a very economically viable option. Finally, we close with some talk about how fans & bloggers can do their part in making sure ownership is held accountable and not letting the A's leave Oakland. I really want to thank Michael for coming on the podcast and being a great guest. So go check out the WhiteElephantParade Blog and follow him on Twitter: @WhiteElephantAs and check out the blog's Facebook fan page. We've been away but we are back #TheBASR fans! I end up having to do a Solo edition for episode 33 but I still bring it. The first segment of the podcast I talk about the A's and the finishing up of their final game versus the Red Saawx. I also get into how the offense needs to start picking up this pitching staff or it is going to be another long season. Finally I talk about how the defense also has to start pulling its weight and stop leading the majors in errors. In the 2nd segment, I talk Giants and how they need to continue to keep pace with the Rockies even though they dropped a game to them today. I also get into how as long as Pablo can recover from his strained tricep the Giants offense should still be ok especially with the Rock's being their only competition since the Dodgers are now being run by MLB. Giants fans should send some flowers & chocolates to Frank McCourt for being such a horrible & poor owner. Then in final segment of the show, I talk some Sharks and how the big win versus the Kings last night in the 6-5 Overtime victory could be the start of a big playoff run for the Cup. No joking this time, a win like last night is the type of win that propels teams towards a championship. So Let's Go Sharks! Hello and welcome everyone to episode 32 of The Bay Area Sports Report podcast and to the future of Sports Radio...Well kinda, lol..So we just launched our #TheBASR hotline number and we actually got a Caller. Needless to say it was awesome but we will get to that in a minute. In the first portion of the show, we talk some Warriors basketball after a tough loss to the Oklahoma City Thunder. Needless to say it was a losing effort and as a "Real Fan" (insert sarcasm meter here) I'm just getting fed up with being mediocre and I'm not gonna take it anymore. We then start getting into some Spring Training stories from Jorge, when we get our official first caller. Since it was the first time the Bay Area Sports Report has taken a call, I forgot to do the one thing you are always supposed to do when you take a call. Ask what the callers name is! But it's a learning process and either way the caller was great! We Jump into some Giants talk after the Giants beat the A's 4-1 in one of the last tune up games before the start of the Season. After Jorge waxes poetic about the Giants and doesn't allow the calller to talk for a while, our caller gets in some good points about the Giants and how they are gonna repeat. We then start talking some Warriors and both I and the caller question what's going on even though the story that is being spun by Giggles on broadcasts would lead us to believe that "If only (Insert Excuse Here)" is a way of life. I loved the caller because of the subtlety of the sarcasm about the Warriors and you know what this right here is a real fan who had honest to goodness takes on what was wrong with the Warriors. Also the caller mentioned Charlie Bell's new site: http://cbell34.com/ which is a really solid new site and a lot more NBA players should be getting a site like this so that way they can connect better with the fans. So check it out. Finally after the call, we try and regroup and finish off the show with some 411 about the next show. Thanks again everyone for listening to the show and for calling in. Let's do it again Thursday!!! It’s episode 31 aka the Solo Dolo edition of the Bay Area Sports Report Podcast. I take it upon myself to grace the mic and talk some Warriors basketball and what the hell does the team need to do with Andris Biedrins? Seriously, I would love to get some suggestions from the fans about what needs to happen with this guy. Just e-mail me over at thebasr@gmail.com and give me your suggestions and we will read them on the next show. I then get into a little talk about the upcoming game versus the Boston Celtics and ohhhh I shudder to think what’s gonna happen in that game. Then after the Break, I get into some Spring Training Baseball and since Jorge isn’t here we start off talking about my beloved A’s. I just hope that they can stay healthy throughout the season and then I talk a little about their line up being a lot more formidable than it was last year. After that, I start talking some Giants and whether or not the lack of depth at some positions may be their downfall in defending the World Championship even with the stellar pitching. Thanks again everyone for listening and also check out our buddy, Dale Tafoya’s AthelticsAfterDark.com site where I wrote up an article for his brand new message board. What is going on The Bay Area Sports Report Fans!!! We are back with episode 30 of The Bay Area Sports Report. In this weeks episode, we get straight into some Warriors talk and even though they finished off heading into the All-Star break on a 3 game win streak they are still under .500. All I want as a Warriors fan, is for the team to stay above .500 for an extended period of time and then we can start talking playoffs. Until then though, Playoffs shouldn't even be uttered. We then talk a little All-Star break and hope that Dorell Wright can win that 3 pt contest since last time we checked he had about 9-1 odds for winning the thing. Obviously, if betting were legal, that might be a good bet. We then talk about Jorge's run in with the Giants World Series trophy and I try and drop a #NobodyCares on him. After his prolonged story, we start talking some spring training and how hype I am for the upcoming Oakland A's season. I haven't been this excited about the start of the baseball season in a while but I'm just hoping for some great baseball and making the playoffs. We finally get into some Raiders and Niners talks and talk about the Richard Seymour signing and Harbaugh loving Alex Smith again...Please keep Alex Smith, that would make me so happy!!! Everyone please enjoy there President's day weekend and don't forget to hit up our facebook fan: (The Bay Area Sports Report) page and drop a like on us. It's the return of FRSHBattle!!! What is going on Bay Area Sports Report fans and welcome to episode 29 of the Bay Area Sports Report Podcast. In this episode, friend of the podcast @FRSHBattle is back on and we talk all kinds of Warriors. We get into the Monta debate and him getting snubbed from the upcoming All-Star game. Then we talk about who could possibly fix the Warriors if neither Monta or Curry are traded and how Biedrins needs to be more consistent or get the hell outta here. We then get into the Smart situation and whether or not he should continue being the Warriors coach into the future after this season and if he has being doing enough as a coach to help the Warriors. We also talk about the craziness of a certain TV announcer and his crazy love for Mo Williams and how he is ridiculously wrong. Then FRSHBattle talks up Vlad Rad and how he's playing now and how it mirrors his own game. Plus I really can't hate on the Space Cadet as of late since he has really stepped up his game. |

Welcome again everyone to another episode of the "Haunted" Bay Area Sports Report podcast. You'll find out more about the haunted part a couple of minutes into the podcast. In episode 28, Jorge & I talk about the new hirings with both NFL teams in the Bay Area. First off I get into the hiring of the new Oakland Raiders head Coach Hue jackson. He is definitely bringing along the offense and lets hope that he can tame the wiley beast that is Al Davis enough in order to win in Oakland. Also Lets just say that no matter what you feel about Al Davis, the man really knows how to throw a press conference. I get into some of the goings on during the press conference and how apparently a Bus got let into the presser and was able to run over Tom Cable. Then Jorge gets into his new man crush, Jim harbaugh and how he thinks that he is a perfect fit for the Niners. I also get off my favorite joke about Jed York for the 9 millionth and 1st time. Ohhh yeah, the joke is that good. After the break, I get into some Warriors talk and let's just say that I am not as hyped up as I usually am after the little 2 game mini-win streak the Dubs are on. Although, once again I talk about how if the Warriors want to become a real legitimate threat, they need to start taking defense more seriously against the better teams in the NBA. Finally, Jorge recounts his first NBA game of the season that he missed the entire first half of, so much for catching the Blake show. So please tune in for the hijinks and stay for the sports talk. The last podcast of 2010 and we want to just take the time to thank everyone for the continued support and we have a lot of new and exciting things in the works for 2011. In episode 27, Jorge and I discuss the Niners finally getting rid of "Samurai" Mike Singletary and talk about the possibility of Baalke stepping in as GM. We then talk some Raiders football and I get into why going 8-8 this year is a success considering where the Raiders have been the last 7 years. I also talk a little about how contraction may hurt some of the momentum that this team has built up and that I really don't mind if Tom Cable comes back as Head coach for your Oakland Raiders. We then pop a little champagne during the break and come back talking some Warriors. I'm still not quite sure what this team needs but if they go 0-5 on this roadtrip through the south changes will have to be made and Lacob will have to put his money where his mouth is. Finally to end the show, we give some huge shout-outs to some of the people that have helped The BASR along the way this year and how we couldn't have made the strides we did without their support and friendship. Thanks again to Sheed of Warriorsworld.net fame, Ethan Strauss, Dale Tafoya of AthleticsAfterDark.com, Sonia Tydingco, and Jason Battle of Upsideradio.com. 2011 is gonna be an even bigger year for The Bay Area Sports Report and we just hope that everyone stays on board with us and grows as we do in the coming year. It's been a long time, We shouldn't have left you, but we got a new episode for you to step too... What is going on everyone and welcome to the 26th installment of the Bay Area Sports Report Podcast. Sorry we have had a little lay off in between podcasts but I had to take care of a little business like graduate from my Master's Program. But now that I'm done it is time to get down to business and go hard on the final weeks of the NFL season for the surging 7-7 Raiders and unexpectedly surging 5-9 Niners. Both have an opportunity to make the playoffs with the Raiders needing a litte more help to control their destiny at the end of the season. Jorge talks about how the Niners making the playoffs might not be the greatest thing considering their 7-9 record and the possibility of getting slaughtered in the first round. As for me, I talk about the uphill battle the Raiders face this week in dealing with the Indianapolis Colts but for the first time in a long time the Colts look beatable. I also look at the season for the Raiders so far as a net positive considering in ealrier podcasts I was willing to be happy with 8 wins. Yes there have been a lot of games that should have been won this year, but this aint no time to be complaining. Let's just hope the Raiders take care of business the next two weeks and that they get a little help from the Titans. After the break we get into some Warriors talk and how so far the season has been some what dissapointing. I also send down a decree from Mount BASR where I will now only refer to a specific Warriors broadcaster as the TVA. Mainly because his incesant flip-flopping and excuse making has landed him in the Cohan "The Man who Shall not be Named territory". I then go on to talk about the lack of defense but really my rant inevitably came back to one of the bigger flaws the Warriors have, the training staff. I hate the injury excuse as much as the next die-hard fan but why has the training staff been able to skate blame free through this season? Seriously, freak accidents I get but the nagging stuff like holes in guys arms, David Lee, or a bunch of nagging injuries that just keep being used as excuses are no longer going to cut it. Bay Area fans deserve a better brand of basketball and training staff. Finally, we just want to wish all of our The BASR fans a Merry Christmas, Hannukah, Kwanza, or whatever it is that you celebrate. We want to thank all of you for all of the support over this last year and we have a lot of surprises coming up for you in 2011. Hopefully everyone is having a great Thanksgiving weekend and what better way to deal with a tryptophan coma than to put on the dulcet tones of the Bay Area Sports Report podcast. In episode 25 of the Bay Area Sports Report, I make jorge talk about the least talked about team in the Bay Area, the San Francisco Forty Niners. Let's just say he is none to pleased with the direction Mike Singletary is taking this team in. After that, we talk about the debacle in Pittsburgh and how even though the Raiders lost some Karmic Justice was served in how Richard Seymour smacked up Big Ben. I then thought it was only appropriate that our break song was an ode to Big Ben. After the break we then talk about the Warriors and how injuries should no longer be used as an excuse for losing. I also question why David Lee's lingering elbow injruy has not gotten Tom Abdenour, Warriors Head Athletic Trainer, fired? I mean even the zombies from The Walking Dead, thought the fact that Lee was allowed to play after getting bit on the elbow was a bit risky. After I calm down, Jorge and I get into some hot stove talk with the Atheltics and Giants signings or attempted signings. I just hope the fact that the A's are willing to spend money is not a PR stunt for the sake of saying they tried and Jorge talks about how once again Sabean overpaid for Aubrey Huff since that is his deal. Will that signing come back to haunt the Giants in future, who knows? Well, Well, Well Giants fans... All I can say is congratulations on being the 2010 World Series Champions. On episode 24 aka the Willie Mays episode, I switched things up a little this week to show our Giants fans that I do actually care about them a little with our music intro and a nice little surprise for you during our break. I then have Jorge relive the whole world series and playoff run all over again. We talk about the emotions that he went through and the fact that the youtube video he put up already has over 2000 views when Renteria hit his now famous 3 run home run. After Jorge waxes poetic about the euphoria of finally getting the World Series monkey off the Giants back, we then talk about ESPN's East coast bias towards anything west of the Mississippi. We finally get into what the Giants have to do to try and repeat and whether or not Jorge is now in love with Brian Sabean. Let's just say don't be surprised at his answer if you follow The BASR podcast. To end the show we talk about how the Raiders need to sell out this weekends home game versus Kansas City and how I am getting a really good feeling about this iteration of the Raiders. They have something that I can't quite put my finger on, but this team might just have what it takes to win the division. So Let's sell this game out Raiders Fans!!! Please don't forget to subscribe to the podcast on I-tunes & don't forget to follow us on Twitter: Frank: @MR_FJG_SON Jorge: @BASR_JLuna Oh and e-mail us your thoughts and comments at: thebasr@gmail.com |

What is going on Bay Area Sports Report Fans? Thank you for continuing to tune in and for our 23 episode aka the MJ episode. We get into what is on everyone's mind right now the Giants. Jorge is a little upset they let game 5 slip through their fingers but does still Believe. Also during the podcast we find out the Rangers are going to meet whoever wins the NLCS in the playoffs and can someone say Molina's Revenge? I pose the question to Jorge on whether or not Molina catching for the Rangers could be like when John Gruden went to coach the Tampa Bay Bucs and met the Raiders in the Superbowl. Let's just say I hate bringing that memory back up, it's like opening up an old wound. Needless to say I pick the Giants to win the World Series! In the second half of the podcast, we finally talk about the Niners versus Raiders game. I totally forgot they played last week because watching that game was like having a bad dream that you couldn't wake up from. Jorge has from here on out been named "Sportsadramus" because he has correctly called the Niners schedule so far. He feels that the Niners will beat the Panthers but if they don't the Niners should just shut down for the rest of the season. I once again pick the Raiders to win and Jorge Picks the Niners to win...We wouldn't have it any other way. Thanks again for listening to the Podcast everyone and don't forget to e-mail us: thebasr@gmail.com. Also don't forget to follow us on Twitter: Frank: @MR_FJG_SON Jorge: @BASR_JLuna Finally, subscribe to us on I-tunes and leave us some comments we would really appreciate it. |

What is going on Bay Area Sports Report fans!!! On episode 22 we introduce a little musical interlude (Jorge is lucky he is my friend) and play you a little "Don't Stop Believing" Giants style by ASHKON. Also check out the interview that warriorsworld.net did with ASHKON for warriorsworldtv about how he came up with the song that's making the rounds in Giantsville. This podcast ended up being about an hour but it was because Jorge was 3 drinks in and he had a lot to say about the NLCS and the Giants chances of beating the Phillies and about the 0-5 San Francisco Forty-Niners. I finally get to talk a little about how "The Raiders will WIN" (Al Davis Voice) and how I really think Campbell has turned a corner after last weeks San Diego Victory. I'm gonna keep the intro short and sweet this week due to the length of the podcast, so ENJOY!!! |

The Bay Area Sports Report and Upside Radio combine to quite possibly make the Voltron of podcasts for episode 21. Friend of the podcast @FRSHBattle from www.upsideradio.com comes on the show and we talk a lot of Niners and Warriors. We get into the Jimmy Raye situation and whether or not Mike Singletary will be able to get out of his own way and let the Niner offense open up. I then once again ask that Janikowksi be thizzed out when kicking field goals so that way he can make them. No seriously, Please.. Jason then predicts the Niners will win the next 13 in a row!!! After that we start looking at the Warriors and whether or not Smart can really instill that defensive mindset and how many wins we might be looking at for this season. We than talk about the Melo for Curry situation and whether we would pull the trigger on that trade. Finally we get into some general NBA talk in particularly about the NWO Heat. Let's just say we are both excited to see this team lay waste to the NBA and its old ideas of how teams should be constructed. Don't forget to follow Jason on Twitter: @FRSHBattle and hit up www.upsideradio.com and submit your designs for the new Upside Radio logo for a chance to win a brand spanking new copy of NBA 2K11. Designers here is your shot to get your work out there and get a little something in return. Once I again I want to thank Jason for coming on the podcast and don't forget to check out www.upsideradio.com and The Bay Area Sports Report for all of your kool-aid free Bay Area Sports takes and see you next week. Episode 20, SON!!! Yes, Yes, Yall we have made it to episode 20. I can't even believe it. Well in this weeks podcast we get into the turmoil that is happening over in Niner land. Jimmy Raye, we hardly knew ya! I then continually try and jump on the Giants bandwagon but Jorge won't let me on, I wonder why, hmmmm? I then ask WHY OH WHY JANO!!! The only Janikowski that I like is one that is thizz'n and making field goals. Not one that shanks a FG wide left. But even after all of that I still think the Raiders have a shot at beating a Texans team that just came off of a huge loss to Dallas. Let's just say I love my Raiders!!! We then get into what everyone has been waiting for, the Giants. Can they finish off this improbable run and take the NL West? Once again I ask Jorge to let me on the bandwagon but he is not having it. Then Jorge gets all feelings and wants me to write an apology for giving him and the Giants such a hard time all year. Hey Jorge hold your breath and I'll get right on that. We finally finish off the podcast with some A's talk, some stadium talk, and whether or not I believe in Lew Wolff and the A's ownership enough to not think the stadium issue is more about making money then winning. I also give some of my ideas of how both the A's and Raiders could work together to reinvigorate the East Bay! I then finally get off one last try to get on the Giants bandwagon but to no avail, I am rebuked again. Hey I just want the Giants to win... Thanks again for listening and don't forget to email us your thoughts at : thebasr@gmail.com Also don't forget to follow us on Twitter: Frank: @MR_FJG_SON Jorge: @BASR_JLuna And don't forget to subscribe to us on I-Tunes!!! |

Allow us to re-introduce ourselves...Hey everyone welcome back for another edition of the Bay Area Sports Report podcast episode 19. In this weeks episode we decided to re-introduce ourselves to some of our new listeners and talk to them about what we are trying to do with our little podcast. After the pleasantries we get right into some Bay Sports. We start off with the Niners and what direction they could be going in after their tough loss on Monday night to the Saints. Let's just say Jorge thinks the pressure is on someone not named Alex Smith. I then talk about the Raiders QB change to Bruce Gradkowski and hope that this is what sparks the Raiders to victory in Arizona. We then get into some serious Giants talk and even though I give Giants fans a hard time about the Giants choking down the strectch, they can do it if they keep up the phenomenal pitching they have been getting from their starters. Jorge then calls his shot and says the Giants will win and will be in the playoffs. I then get into some A's talk and see a little bit of hope in the last 3 series the A's have. Hey if they can take 3 out of 4 from the Rangers this weekend, there is still a shot. Also I wanted to ask all the A's fans out there to go out and support the team this weekend. They need the energy from the fans at the coliseum this weekend people so lets go out and show some support and not let the Rangers celebrate in our house. Finally, while dressed in all my Warriors regalia I give my take on the Don aka Don Nelson leaving the Warriors and Keith Smart being inserted as the Warriors starting head coach before the start of training camp. Keith Smart you have one task, make this team play defense!!! Thanks again everyone for listening and don't forget to email us at: thebasr@gmail.com Also don't forget to follow Jorge and I on twitter: Frank: @MR_FJG_SON Jorge: @BASR_JLuna Last but not least, don't forget to subscribe to the podcast on I-Tunes. What is going on everyone! On our 18th podcast, we have a very special guest with us Dale Tafoya from www.athleticsafterdark.com and author of "Bash Brother's: A Legacy Subpoenaed", which can be found on amazon.com and all other online bookstores. Dale and I talk all A's this podcast and get into what the A's season has been like with it winding down. We get into how .500 this team is and what the A's should be looking to do in the off-season to bring some pop to this offense. I then throw out a couple of names on the A's and what we should do with them: cut them loose or re-sign them? I then have to ask about the Giant's and whether they are gonna be able to make that last push to win the NL West.(See Giants fans I'm nice to you guys!) Finally Dale gives some great advice to the fledgling writer's and pod-casters out there about getting started and choosing quality over quantity. Once again the Bay Area Sports Report would like to thank Dale for coming on the podcast and don't forget to check out www.athleticsafterdark.com for ALL of your A's news and history. Hello, Hello, Hello!!!! Hope everyone is having a great week and taking in the soothing sounds of The Bay Area Sports Report Podcast 17th episode. In this episode we get into whether or not the Giants really do have magic and if the A's can take down the Saaaaahhx this weekend. Next we talk about our fantasy drafts and make a couple of theoretical friendly bets. We then talk about the Niners and Raiders chances in their season openers and lets just say that I make no qualms about wearing my silver and black tinted glasses! Finally I talk about a great article that was written by Rasheed Malek over at www.warriorsworld.net about your friendly neighborhood commentator Bob Fitzgerald and the conflict of interest that he represents. We are back fans and just wanted to start out by saying thanks again for the continued support of the podcast. In this weeks episode we get into whether or not the Giants are for real with a big string of Divisional opponents this upcoming week & weekend...I say Nay but Jorge has got all Giant's fans back. We then get into the A's & no I'm not ready to throw in the towel just yet because I love the A's. Once I again I harp on the lack of offense but do give props to the A's young studs on the mound and the future looks pretty damn bright. We then apparently talk about some Niner and Raider game which happened last weekend but I don't seem to remember a game...hmmmm. Finally we give props to one of our first e-mail fans that jorge didn't think it was important to bring up but we gotta give a shout out to the fans. Ohhh & don't worry I get on him for it. Thank you soo much for the support and don't forget to continue to email us at : thebasr@gmail.com

What is going on listeners!!! This week we have a very special Bay Area Sports Report Podcast for episode 15. For this podcast, we have the one, the only Rasheed Malek from Warriorsworld.net. We talk about how he got started with warriorsworld and he dishes out some great advice for all bloggers and website entrepreneurs. We then get into what the hell happened to the Giants and Tim Lincecum versus the Dad's this past weekend. I then go crazy on the A's (Again)! There is then some Niner talk with the most unbiased & totally untainted number 1 Niner fan in the world, Sheed. No he is totally unbiased, I'm telling ya. I then try and get Stanford Routt traded to the niners and how all I want for the Raiders is to be normal. Finally we get into some Lebron talk and why all the haters need to just stop hating because how can you complain about having to cover the Finals in South Beach?

What is going on everyone! In this weeks shortened podcast, because Jorge really needed to watch Entourage, we talk about the Giants & A's playoff chances. I also talk about how Jack Cust sucks and how I hate watching the 2 Matt's in the outfield. This podcast was taped before the Matt's got DFA'd and went on the disbaled list so A's fans you can thank me later. Too bad we still have Geren as a Manager. Either way, enjoy the pod and thanks again for the continued support.

Yes people we are back and yes we are in full effect. In this weeks podcast I go off on the Oakland A's ownership and front office. Hey Front Office I got a suggestion, focus on the place you play in now (Oakland) and not the place you want to play in (San Jose). Jorge is jolly because the Giants are playing so damn good after sweeping the dodgers and dare I say it, he is starting to be "In This!" We then get into a little NFL talk on the Raiders and the Niners and where we think both of these teams will end up in their respective divisions. In the final half of the episode we get into some of our favorite shows Entourage, Mad Men, and Jersey Shore. 2 days ago we did a spoiler alert just in case anyone hadn't seen the new episodes but at this point we figure everyone who is a fan has already seen the new episodes for every show. Also I let slip out that I like True Blood, so sue me. Also it's safe to say I'm still not sold on the Entourage season because Doug Elin has been so lazy in the last 2 seasons that I need to be impressed and Jessica Simpson, you don't impress me. Ohh and one other thing, for some reason I was getting all worked up during this episode and swore a bit but I figure we ain't getting paid so Swear On!!! Hey everyone its your friendly neighborhood bay area sports podcast here for your listening pleasure. First I want to let everyone know that we are officially on I-Tunes so go ahead and subscribe to our feed and check us out. Next order of business, the damn A's and Giants need to make some moves if they want to get into the playoffs and make some noise. Then Jorge gets kicked off the podcast because he doesn't want to pay for the internet and instead roams around finding wi-fi. Soooo I'm left to go off by myself and give myself a heart attack on why the Warriors SHOULD NOT TRADE Anthony Randolph for David Lee...SMH. Then Jorge comes back & we finish up the show by talking about the half hour of TV time we bought before Lebron announces where he is going. I'm signing with GREECE!!! Listen and enjoy everyone! Oh and email Jorge cuz he wants to know who to root for in the World Cup Final. Thanks again for listening.

Hey everyone what is going on! I want to put a disclaimer at the top, this podcast was originally done live at the draft party & was awesome. I want to thank Ethan Strauss from Warriorsworld.net & the great warriors fans that contributed with their live reactions. Dominic and the other Guy (Sorry bro I can see your name in my minds eye but my brain is not allowing me to remember it) were awesome and gave some great insight into the Warriors draft selection. So here is the disclaimer, my F'N battery ran out & I wasn't near a plug to save my original stuff. It is somewhere on the computer hiding but it is just one of those things that totally bums you out after you've talked for an hour...But since it was my first attempt at a mobile podcast it is just one of those hazards. Either way this was my attempt to somehow try to recapture some of that magic from draft night. I hope you enjoy & if I can find the old data somewhere on my hard drive I'll edit it & throw it up. What is going on everyone!!! This week's podcast is a special podcast that comes to you live and direct from South Africa with our man on the Street at the World Cup Jorge, who is freshly off the United States ridiculously exciting victory over Algeria. Suffice it to say, Jorge's voice was a little hoarse. We get all up in South Africa & the World Cup and also talk some A's, Giants, & Warriors with draft day coming up. This podcast ran a little long but I look at it as more time that you get to listen to our sultry voices. (Jorge really sounds like Kathleen Turner). Either way enjoy!!!

What is going on PEEEEEEEPS!!! Sorry for the little break but we are back and in full effect. (Start DAS EFX hip hop montage now). In this week’s podcast, we get into the Giants and A’s and how both are facing a tough stretch of games coming up & how Brian Sabean is still the greatest GM in the Bay Area because Buster Posey is totally not ready. I then go into a long drawn out tirade about not trading Anthony Randolph and how the “Man that Shall not be Named” needs to get jacked by Larry Ellison. Oh and as a special treat, we go global and get our World Cup Fever on! Especially since Jorge is heading out to South Africa this Wednesday and has still yet to turn in a World Cup preview. Vaya con dios my friend and only do a little bit of Brown-Brown. Listen and enjoy and don’t forget to email us at : thebasr@gmail.com Also follow us on Twitter: Frank: @MR_FJG_SON Jorge: @BASR_JLuna Editor Notes: Podcast came in a little hot with some background noise but I’m getting back into the flow so it will be fixed by next week. We also get into the Sharks for like 5 minutes & lets just say don't worry sharks fans because you actually have owners that care. Then we get into a little Warriors talk & how I will be the first in line to purchase a ticket to see Ellison vs Prohkorov- There can only be one! In this weeks podcast Jorge and I get into the Cleveland Lebron's debacle in Boston. I know your asking yourself, isn't this supposed to be a podcast on Bay Area Sports? Yes it is, but the reason I wanted to talk about Lebron is so that we can start the "Bring Lebron to the Bay!" movement! Larry Ellison, the Bay Area Sports Report's biggest fan, GET IT DONE! We also get into some A's and Giants talk. First I have to make a correction, the catcher who caught Dallas Braden's perfect game was NOT Josh Donaldson like I said on the podcast, it was Landon Powell. Yes an unforgivable error I know, but that is what you get when you don't have a fact checker on staff and prepare solely off memory. Sorry for that A's fans but to make up for it I rag on the Giants for their awesome signing of Mark Derosa and his "Totally not jacked up" wrist. Finally Jorge and I get into some Shark's playoff talk and let's just say I don't really remember what I said because I blacked out for while but apparently I made some good points...hmmm, not sure but I'll roll with it. We also get into some A's and Giants talk since both of those teams are in 1st place...Ohhhhh yeah, I said it FIRST f'n Place! Finally we get into the Sharks and Playoff Beards! Oh and I cannot forget I go on a little rant on why the A's need a new stadium in Oakland. I hope everyone is enjoying the podcast and don't forget to leave us some comments and email us at thebasr@gmail.com. I read and respond to all of them!
